Vogts re-elected to KSPA Board for 3rd term

Todd Vogts, of Sterling High School, has been re-elected to the Kansas Scholastic Press Association Board of Directors serving as the Area 1 Representative. This area used to be Area 5 prior to a redrawing of the membership map.

It is a two-year term. This will be the third term served by Vogts.

“I feel honored the membership has once again bestowed upon me the privilege and honor of representing them,” he said. “I hope to do right by them all and help increase the visibility of scholastic journalism in the state. This is especially important for the smaller schools I represent. They need to have a seat at the table during discussions, and I will proudly be their voice as I look out for their interests.”

Vogts said he is looking forward to continuing his service to the association.

“It is a fantastic organization, and I have been a part of it ever since I became a high school journalism teacher,” he said. “I have seen my students leap for joy at winning a contest, nearly cry at a heart-breaking loss, and come away from a conference jazzed with excitement and new knowledge. I have networked with incredible educators from around the state, and I have learned so much. The benefits of this organization are truly unlimited.”

KSPA is, according to its website, “a non-profit organization composed of Kansas scholastic journalism students and their teachers. The organization is committed to excellence in journalism at all levels and views its focus as one of providing journalism education leadership for Kansas teachers and students. The KSPA provides a support system through its contests, conferences and scheduled activities.”
