Moundridge Elevator Catches Fire

Moundridge Fire Department crews were dispatched to the Mid Kansas Coop around 3 p.m. Wednesday for a fire in the leg between the north elevator and grain dryer. A cause of the fire was not known at press time.

MKC workers shovel out burning grain and other materials before Moundridge fire crews arrived on scene.

Moundridge Fire Department members move into position to apply water to the fire.

Moundridge Fire crews spray water on the area where the fire was reported.

A couple fire fighters extinguish the pile of burning material shoveled out by MKC workers.

Two Moundridge fire fighters, with the help of an MKC employee, also went to the top of the leg at the top of the elevator to make sure the fire wasn’t burning at the top of the structure.
