Local fire truck up for sale

The Ransom, Kan., City and Nevada Township Fire Department is selling one of its trucks. And it looks like a gem.

It is being sold online at PurpleWave.com. I found out about this thanks to Mike Boesker, who works with PurpleWave.com.

It is a 1971 Chevrolet C50 fire tanker truck. It has 1,492 miles on odometer, and those are original miles. It operates via a 350 cu. in. gas engine. It has a four-speed manual transmission, and the fuel pump and battery have been replaced and the fuel tank cleaned since October 2009.

According to a placard on the tanker, it was custom-built by American Fire Equipment, Co., of Salina, Kan.

Here is a shot of the placard I was just talking about, via PurpleWave.com.

Judging by the pictures, the engine looks pretty clean, and the inside almost seems to be in near-mint condition.

The only way that interior could be sweeter was if it had a radio. Again, this image is via PurpleWave.com.

Now, if you are reading this and know me even a little, you probably know I don’t have much knowledge about vehicles or much drive to learn more. I’m mainly interested in this auction because I now live in Ransom.

That being said, it would be pretty sweet to own a fire truck. I don’t really know what I would do with it, but it would be cool nonetheless.

The main reason I even decided to post about this is because before I first got the Twitter message that the truck was for sale, the fire department enlisted my help to make a flier for them. See, they need new extrication tools, so I made up a nice flier to post around and hopefully drum up the funds they need.

And when I say need, I mean need. This isn’t just some luxury item they would like to have. Jaws of Life and other hydraulic rescue tools are used by emergency rescue personnel to extricate people from from vehicle accidents so their lives might be saved.

This is serious stuff, and when they asked, I was more than happy to help because I understand how vital such tools are.

I don’t know if proceeds from the truck sale will help purchase this life-saving equipment or not, but it probably won’t hurt the goal of a new Jaws of Life either.

If you can and are willing, I would urge you to donate to the cause, even if you aren’t from anywhere near Ransom. It would be greatly appreciated.

Send your donations to:

  1. With havin so much content do you ever run into any issues of plagorism or copyright
infringement? My website has a lot of unique content I’ve either authored myself or outsourced but it appears a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my agreement. Do you know any methods to help protect against content from being ripped off? I’d certainly appreciate it.

  2. Primarily it sold fried chicken but now due to a lot of competition in this type
of food market it has come up with different
types of burgers, sandwiches and salads to capture the market.

We need to not listen to our doctor who will be very helpful and write
a prescription for almost anything to help you live with
your diabetes. Make your own Muesli, you can make better muesli than any breakfast cereal
manufacturer and instead of milk have soy or rice milk, one without sugar as an additive.
