MOUNDRIDGE – At 11:55 p.m. Sunday Moundridge Fire Department, Police Department and Emergency Medical Services crews responded to an accident on Interstate 135.
The crash occurred at mile marker 49.5 southbound on I-135, which is 1/2 mile north of the Moundridge turn off on I-135.
It was a car versus semi accident.
According to Kansas Highway Patrol reports, both vehicles were southbound when a 2001 Chrysler Sebring driving by 17-year-old Dylan Lee Fellows of Wichita left the roadway striking a bridge rail and skidding into the passing lane.
A 2008 Peterbuilt semi driven by 58-year-old Lynn Edwin Freeman of Viborg, S.D., then struck the car on the driver’s side door.
Both vehicles came to a rest in the ditch.
Kameo Herlan, 15 of Wichita, was riding with Fellows.
Fellows was injured and was life flighted by air ambulance helicopter to St. Francis in Wichita.
Kameo was also injured and taken to Memorial Hospital in McPherson.
Freeman was not injured.
Traffic on I-135 was briefly stopped so the air ambulance helicopter could land and pick up the patient.
Neither Fellows nor Herlan was wearing a seat belt, but Freeman was wear a safety restraint, according to Highway Patrol reports.
Local crews worked the accident until Highway Patrol troopers could arrive.
According to police scanner traffic, the trooper arrived at the scene at “mach speed.”
Is it illegal to use a middle name of a person if they have not signed a release of consent form? I would check into that if I were you.
