Halloween 2008: The Holiday That Always Pleases

Halloween is upon us, and I love it.

It is my favorite holiday.

Not because of all the candy I get to consume or the chance to become something I’m not simply by adorning myself with a creative costume.

I enjoy Halloween because you can scare the pudding out of people and not feel bad for it because that is exactly what you are supposed to do.

Doing such a thing at other holidays just wouldn’t be appropriate, even if it would be really funny to jump out of the Christmas tree while grandmother is hanging the last stocking on the fire place.

I love getting scared, even more so because it takes a little work to do so.

Haunted houses are great, and I have attended a few already this Halloween season.

Scary movies also quench my thirst for terror most of the time.

In fact, one of my favorite stories, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” is great for Halloween time.

It is going to be a good time again this year, too.

I urge everyone to get dressed up and head out into the night for some fun and candy.

Be safe and don’t do too much damage.

Also, as you can see below, I have included just a few of my favorite Halloween tidbits I thought you might like, so enjoy!

This is the Halloween charticle that ran in this week’s Ledger. I am pretty proud of it. I think it looks cool, and it is packed with good, local information.

I love “The Simpsons,” and I love the song “Monster Mash.” How could I go wrong with this video?

Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” music video is iconic, and it is on YouTube; however, it can’t be embedded on a blog page.

Here’s the link for it, though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtyJbIOZjS8.

This is the intro to one of my favorite childhood cartoons, Nickelodeon’s “Ahh real monsters!”

Of course, you can’t forget about “Beetlejuice.”

And there’s always “Are You Afraid Of The Dark.”

“Tales From The Crypt” anyone?

Isn’t Halloween great? Now I just need to decide what I am going to dress up as tonight . . .
