GRE test completed, two scores to report

Well, at 8 a.m. today I took the GRE, which is basically the ACT for graduate school.

I was nervous because I didn’t study and really had no idea what I was getting into.

The test started off by asking me to write two essays. I’m confident of those.Then I took a Verbal (vocabulary and the like), a Quantitative (math) and another Verbal test. The math portion was hard for me because I am a journalism major and all good journalists are bad at math.The vocabulary portions were easier for me, but there were some words I just didn’t know. I won’t find out how well I did on the essay portion until later, but my Verbal score was 540 and my Quantitative score was 450.

 With no real idea of how the scoring works, I can’t say how well I really did, but I do know one graduate school I am looking at required a GRE score of 1,000.

By my calculations, before the written portion, I have a 990, so I might have done well, depending upon how everything truly works in the way of scoring.

  1. Hmmmm….it’s been a long time since I took the GRE test. I seem to recall some fun logic questions about If Patty can’t sit next to someone who wears perfume and Joe can’t sit next to anybody wearing purple, where should Alexandra (dressed in Liz Claiborne perfume and a purple dress) sit.
